I understand that you have upgraded your Hotmail account to Outlook.com account. Could you provide more information when you said "Office 365 is set up to use instead of logging in to Hotmail-Outlook"? Actually, if you added your Outlook.com account in your Office 365 tenant as a connected account, you can send a test email from a third email account to your Outlook.com account and Office 365 mailbox.
