Do you want to new a document with web apps but edit those using Microsoft Office clients?

If so, based on your situation, you can consider the workaround as below:

1. Disable the add-on, click New Document, when the Create New Document web open, copy the URL

2. Click Site Actions -> Site Settings, click Quick launch under Look and Feel

3. Add New Navigation Link to a position that you prefer, copy the URL, click OK

4. Then you can new document from web by this navigation link

5. Enable add-on, and then you can edit documents using Microsoft Office
